The Reservations

Bio:
First impressions first, then… since some of those immediate feelings are the things that stay with you. Because first impressions do last, no matter how you try and shake them off. The Reservations, one suspects, know a thing or two about those niggly memories, and the tricks they can play upon your poor old unsuspecting heart and mind; the same heart and mind that holds on for dear life to the moments you’ve convinced yourself are the ones which matter most, in the long run, no matter how fleeting or insubstantial they seemed at the time, or how crystallised they’ve become inside the kaleidoscope of emotional spicks and specks you’ve carefully built around them. The funny thing is that if they’ve lasted long enough, those twinges and itches and aches of emotional memory, they become something else entirely. A song, say, with its own trajectory and its own emotional repertoire and happily enough, its own life outside of the real moment that provided its kernel. Then, nothing has really changed – what you saw and felt and said at the scene of the first impression is still intact at the source – but in the act of capturing that indelible first impression, something in its essence has escaped to live another ghost life, somewhere in the “real world”. So these, then, are the last impressions, the traces made by all those impossibly big and incredibly tiny events which unwittingly wrought these songs and… the rest belongs, like the man says, to you. Here’s hoping they last, here’s hoping they thrive and prosper in their newfound reality. Indeed, here’s to hope, which is - one suspects - what this record, and these guys, and this band, are really on about.
